What is the Bangladesh AI Olympiad (bdAIO)?
The Bangladesh AI Olympiad (bdAIO) is a national-level competition for high school students that focuses on testing students’ abilities in AI, data science and programming. Students from Class 12 (Upto HSC 2025 Examinee and equivalent) and below can participate. It is modeled after the International AI Olympiad(IAIO)/ International Olympiad for AI (IOAI) and aims to discover and nurture the next generation of AI and data science experts in Bangladesh.
Who can participate in the bdAIO?

- For National Syllabus – Upto HSC 2025 Examinee
- For Madrasha Board – Upto Aleem 2025 Examinee
- For british Curriculum – Upto A2 Examinee
- For BTEB – Upto 4th semester of polytechnic institute
- This is Only for the Bangladeshi students
What is the general; format of the olympiad?

There will be two rounds of contest, mainly

National Round: The winners of the regional round will advance to the national round. In this round, participants must solve a real-life problem on the Kaggle platform, in addition to demonstrating their Python programming skills. This round will be held at the premises of the Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT), Mirpur Dhaka. The duration of the contest will be 5 hours.
- Regional Round: This is the first round, where participants will be judged on their data science and problem-solving abilities through a programming contest in Python. It will take place in different cities of the country, including but not limited to Dhaka, Chattogram, Sylhet, etc. The contest will be for around 3-5 hours, and the participants will have to solve problems on the online programming judge platform.

How do I register for the bdAIO?
Registration details will be shared on the official BdAIO website (www.bdaio.org) and/or social media platforms. You will need to fill out the registration form, provide necessary details, and submit it before the deadline.
How are winners selected for the National Round?
Winners of the Regional Round will be selected based on their performance in the Python programming contest. The top participants will be invited to the National Round.
What happens in the National Round?
The National Round will require participants to solve a real-life problem on Kaggle, which is a platform for data science competitions. In addition to solving problems using Python, participants will be evaluated based on their approach to data science, problem-solving ability, and creativity in handling real-world datasets.
How is the Bangladesh team selected for the International AI Olympiad?
The following steps will be followed:
1) The top performer in the National Round will be selected for national camp. The selected campers will undergo a grooming session(s) and additional evaluations. The camp will cover the different aspects of the international contest.
2) For the camper, there will be Team Selection Tests (TSTs). On the basis of the result of the campers at the national round, attitude in the national camp, and the score of TSTs 4 students will be selected for the upcoming IOAI to be held in China in August 2025.
3) The selected team will go through a grooming phase to improve their skills before representing Bangladesh at the international level.
Are there any prizes for winners?
Yes! Prizes will be awarded to the top participants in both the Regional and National Rounds. Further, the winners will receive recognition as well.
How should I prepare for the competition?
To prepare, participants should strengthen their Python programming skills, practice solving data science problems, and get familiar with Kaggle. Participating in online coding platforms and attending AI workshops can be very helpful in honing the skills needed for the contest.
Is there any specific syllabus for the bdAIO?
The syllabus for the bdAIO is the same as that of the International AI Olympiad. It includes topics related to:
1) Python programming and algorithms
2) Data science and machine learning techniques
3) Problem-solving using AI approaches
4) Real-life applications of AI
Can I participate in both regional and national rounds if I qualify?
Yes, if you qualify in the Regional Round, you will automatically be invited to participate in the National Round. From there, the top participants will move forward to the team selection process.
